Tell us a bit more about you – the human
I’m a childminder in Ennis & my very favourite way to unwind after a hectic day with my smallies is to head to our local woods for a walk with two of our three doggies, our time together is so precious to me. We loved the 99k for canines & my girlies loved the attention their bandanas brought!

Why did you take part in the 99k for Canines initiative?
Both Minnie & Belle were bought from a breeder, a very good one mind you, but Coco & Molly came from a small animal rescue here in Ennis. I wouldn’t swap Minnie & Belle for the world but if I’d known then what we know now, we definitely would have adopted & not shopped. There’s so many dogs looking for good homes & I’ve such admiration & respect for Dogs Trust that I wanted to do my bit for them.

What have been the major benefits for you of the challenge?
I’ve loved the challenge, it’s made us get up & out in the evenings rather than vegitate in front of the tv, I’ve also found that nearly in a meditative way, it’s been great for my head & spending some quality time with my girls has been a huge bonus too.

What do you feel have been the biggest benefits for your dog throughout the challenge
With Coco, she has really trimmed up, she was a little on the chubby side before! Both have lovely short tidy nails now too. & Minnie seems more relaxed & sociable too. Their form is fantastic too, always were happy doggies but the seem to have a little extra spring in their step now.

Now the important part – The Doggy details

Tell us all about Coco & Minnie
All three of my dogs are girls, Minnie has her sister here with us, Belle. & Coco’s sister Molly lives with my parents but comes to us for holidays regularly. She joined us on some 99k walks too. Minnie is a little shy, isn’t keen in going for walks alone with me, Coco gives her such confidence it’s unbelievable! Minnie is also super protective of Coco. Belle is super small so she stays hone with my hubby when the rest of us are out walking, she loves the solo fuss he makes of her. As we don’t have children we are blessed to have our three girlies, we still consider ourselves a family of 5!!!
