[Limerick Ireland, 22/08/2019] – Barkingmad.ie, a new news platform for dog owners in Ireland, successfully launched in July from its headquarters in Ballyneety, Co. Limerick. Barkingmad.ie provides up to date news, tips, product reviews, business features and entertainment for dog lovers everywhere. Between the launch date of July 10th – August 10th, BarkingMad.ie experienced website traffic consisting of over 60,000 unique visitors from dog lovers throughout Ireland, UK, USA and Canada.
Owner of Barkingmad.ie – Darragh Bourke Limerick native from Ballyneety, spoke about the extraordinary visitor numbers – “It’s fantastic, I’m thrilled about the numbers, because it has been a lot of hard work but it’s worth it, this has allowed for me to meet so many wonderful people right across Ireland who share the same love and interest for their dogs.
The canine Companion Podcast show – The Big Bark launched on August 10th and has already achieved over 150 downloads across a variety of podcast platforms. The podcast covers a wide range of topics including Animal Welfare, product reviews, nutrition, health, behavior & training to name but a few. The podcast also features interviews with various pet professionals and business owners as well as meeting with animal welfare volunteers. All episodes going forward will also host our puppy panel – a panel of dog owners and dog lovers who discuss the bonds that they share with their dogs as well as chatting about interesting and trending topics.
The podcast is hosted by Darragh Bourke who has a passion for canine Psychology and behavior. Darragh has completed courses in Pet Psychology and is currently working towards becoming a canine behavior specialist. Two episodes of the podcast are currently available on Spotify & ITunes, with more podcast outlets coming soon. Speaking of the initial success, Darragh was delighted with the response and feedback received.
“The response that I’ve got from listeners across Ireland, the UK, as far as Austin Texas, and Auckland NZ is overwhelming. It’s amazing that a simple podcast recorded from Limerick could reach so many people across the world. Listeners are in love with the podcast. Of course, there are one or two odd or funny pieces of feedback we have received but that’s all part of how it works. People love the interview segments. We found in particular, people loved hearing from business owners such as Tony from The Baking Barker who operates from the Milk market here in Limerick. The feedback we’ve received from Episode 2 which puts a heavy focus on animal welfare issues in Ireland has been quite remarkable. As a dog owner myself, I can certainly resonate and understand why people love this show, because quite simply, people love their dogs and the bonds we share with our dogs are incredible.”
Episode 3 of the Podcast is currently in production and is scheduled for release on 30th August. With a slight change in format and with the introduction of guest co-hosts, the Puppy panel and more, it is expected that the podcast download numbers will quickly grow to 1000. Episode 3 will take a closer look why exactly a dog is a man’s best friend. We’ll also be checking in with some special canine guests from the UK, one of whom has met and cuddled with Danielle Radcliffe and Emilia Clarke amongst many other celebrities.
Speaking of the future of Barkingmad.ie & The Big Bark podcast, Darragh had this to say: “I know that because people are so passionate about their dogs, this platform and this podcast will continue to grow. I’ve got some tweaks to make to the format which is happening for Episode 3 but it’s a learning curve too. Right now, for me, this is purely a hobby, I may find a way to grow it to a monetization stage but for now I’m running the site, and podcast because I’m dog crazy. I want a platform where other dog crazy people can connect with one another, get great content and chat about their love for their own dogs which will happen as the website grows. Right now, I’m inviting any dog owners who want to have their dogs featured on our site or chat about their dogs in an upcoming episode of the big bark to contact us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Similarly, if you own a dog business, are a canine professional, volunteer in a rescue Centre or work with dogs in any shape or form, reach out to us and we’d be delighted to have you on the show”
Barkingmad.ie Continues to grow with new features being added to the website the whole time. Episode 3 of the podcast releases in a revamped format on 29th of August on all major podcast streaming platforms.
